Bill Mason’s Finest – Racing Mercedes

Racing Daydreams - Lautenschlager 1914 ACF

How lucky we are that film-maker Bill Mason shared our passion, and used his talent & time to leave a legacy for future generations. From the outset, that first Shell film of the 1949 British Grand Prix, Bill’s work attracted & inspired followers of motor racing. Increasingly, as the decades have passed, the films have become cherished as important historical sources. So it is no surprise that his final work – featuring much personal archive material – is a masterclass.

Presented here by our friends at Race Day Replay, the 2001 series of three films titled Racing Mercedes are an examination of the first sixty years of motor racing, through the lens of the great marque.

Parts 2 & 3 will be available soon – be sure to follow Race Day Replay on YouTube – but for now, enjoy part 1.

No questions, no notes… welcome to the definitive telling – The Genesis of Motor Racing.
